Earth’s Place in Space (Officer Campus)

Students in Year 5 attended a session at the Planetarium of Scienceworks towards the end of Term 3. One of the questions they raised was “How does one calculate prayer time?”

They were able to answer this question by understanding that when the sun is at the highest point in the sky it is noontime. So we must add at least 5 minutes to this to calculate the midday prayer. Although it was a brief discussion, students came up with wonderful questions that needed answers. This terms topic of “Earth’s Place in Space” introduces students to the real world and enables them to comprehend complex concepts.
